Want to make a great morning breakfast to give you some energy for those long paddles? Here it is!
Acai pronounced ah-sah-yee, these berries come from acai palm trees found in Central and South America. This little berry packs a huge punch for anti-aging, weight loss, and is know to be a free radical fighter. Follow this recipe and then add what you like.
The following is what you will need:
- Frozen Acai Berry(you can find these at places like Whole foods or PCC already frozen with nothing added)
- One Banana
- One or two Kiwi’s
- Some strawberries(both frozen and fresh)
- Frozen Mango and blueberries
- Granola(Gluten free if wanted)
- Unsweetened coconut flakes(It’s coconut why does it need to be sweetened?)
- Organic apple juice(look for one that has no added sugars)
- A blender that has a fairly decent ice crush/blend setting
Take the Frozen Acai package and open. Sometimes running under cold water will help release the contents. Place the block of frozen acai in the blender. Add one cup of apple juice. Blend for a minute or two till it’s blended together. Add frozen strawberries(about three), mango’s(four or five small cubes), and blueberries(small handful). Close the blender lid and blend away till smooth. If needed stop blender and stir with a spoon if it gets a little stuck. Just make sure blender has come to a stop! Once blended smooth, find a bowl and pour contents in blender into bowl.
Take your fresh kiwi’s,strawberries, and banana and cut up into bite size pieces. Set aside after cutting. Grab the granola and add as much or as little as you like over the top of the acai mix in the bowl. Next add your freshly cut fruit on top of that. Sprinkle coconut flakes over that.
Now you can leave it there, or you can add some organic honey drizzled on top. Whatever ingredients you think can work. Bee pollen is great! Pineapple chunks, Mint etc. You can customize to your hearts content.
Eat and Enjoy!! Even better share!!
